You can practice offline — the whole dictionary lives on your phone. But offline games earn no letters, no rating, and no leaderboard spots: every reward in Lexo Duels is checked and awarded by the server, so there's nothing an offline cheat could ever gain.
The server replays every submitted word against the actual board and the dictionary, recomputes every score from scratch, and ignores whatever the phone claims. Replayed boards earn nothing. Ratings only ever move on verified games.
