About Lexo Duels

Lexo Duels is a competitive word game. It plays in any web browser today, and the iPhone, iPad and Android apps are in final testing. It is built and run by one independent developer.

What makes it different

Fair play

A competitive game is only worth playing if the scores are real. In Lexo Duels a device never reports a score. It reports the words that were found and when. The server replays every word against the actual board, checks it against the dictionary, and adds the score up from zero. Boards that have been played before earn nothing. Games that look impossible are set aside and never touch ratings.

Some opponents in instant matches are recorded performances from completed ranked games, replayed at their true timing. They are always labeled in the match details.

How it is paid for

By advertising. The apps show ads from Google AdMob and this website shows ads from Google AdSense. An ad never appears during a round. What ads can and cannot see is explained in the privacy policy.

The dictionary

The game accepts 260,345 words, built from two public-domain word lists made for word games. Definitions come from Princeton WordNet. The dictionary by the numbers page has the details.
